I am a home child care provider in Haymarket, VA. For the past 8 years I have taught a full time preschool program for the children I watch. This year, 10 of my preschoolers moved onto Kindergarten, so I decided to do something a little different. This year, I am watching 3 children full time, a 2 1/2 year old girl, a 3 year old boy and his 3 month old baby brother. (This is the first time in my home childcare career that I have cared for an infant. Thank God he is easy and sweet as can be, I have been truly blessed.) I also have a 3 year old little girl come over for "preschool" on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. - noon. So I have decided to do my preschool program on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and as I began researching curriculums and websites, I decided to do my own this year - concentrating on a letter of the week. All the children have at least 2 years before they go into Kindergarten, so I am thinking if I can lay a strong foundation to start, they will excel once they start school. I thought it would be fun to blog about my lessons each week so other providers and parents interested in doing the same thing, can follow right along. So come along and enjoy my preschool this year, it should be an adventure!
Besides watching children full time in my home (6:30 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.) I am also the Director of Children's Ministry at a fabulous church and wife of a great and supportive man (21 years married) and a mother to 3 outstanding children, 2 daughters ages 17 & 14 and a 10 year old son. Oh, and I just started Weight Watchers - need to lose about 50 pounds.
